Today is Day 3 of our sew-a-long – we’re halfway done already!! We have a few steps today, but don’t be intimidated!
If you’re making a sleeveless Bryce per the pattern, we’ll enclose the front armscye seams today. If you’re adding sleeves, we’re actually just going to baste the front armscye; since we’ll be attaching a sleeve, we don’t need the seam to be enclosed.
Wondering what stitch to use for understitching? You can use most any stretch stitch on your sewing machine; I used a triple stitch.
Wondering what stitch to use for the 2″ of “stay stitching” on the back neckline? I used a triple stitch for that as well, but you could also use a long straight stitch (I typically use a length of 4 for this)
- Make sure you are taking an accurate and consistent seam allowance; seam allowance is already included on all pattern pieces. For Bryce, seam allowance is 3/8″ unless otherwise indicated.
- Keep your side seams, shoulder seams, and bottom/waist seams open for now; we are only sewing the armscyes, and the back neckline today
- Be sure to use a stretch stitch for all of your construction!

If you have questions about sewing up your front armscye or back bodice, you are always welcome to post in our SAL group so we can help you! Be sure to check in each day during the SAL, and look for daily posts to enter our giveaways. We can’t wait to see what you create this week!
