Need the perfect shoes to complete your Tinkerbell outfit? Look no further! I’m going to show you step-by-step how to use basic craft supplies to make adorable Tinkerbell shoes! Why buy them for $10+ when you can make them?!?
Supplies you will need:
*Shoes (I used new, faux-leather. You could use hand me downs, scuffed up shoes. Canvas, faux leather, etc). Check your local consignment shops or Goodwill for bargain dress shoes!
*Glitter
*Mod Podge
*Foam brush
*Pom Poms (I bought 3″ pom poms, but ended up trimming them down because they were too big for my size 12 shoes. You can also use yarn to make your own pom poms)
*Needle and Thread
Let’s get started!
Pour some glitter into a plastic container. (Make sure its a container that you don’t mind getting yucky or thrown away.) Pour your Mod Podge into the container. Stir the glitter/Mod Podge mixture with your foam brush.
Paint your glitter mixture onto the main part of your shoe. Do not paint the laces or the soles. You might find it easier to dab the mixture on. I slopped it on pretty thick as you can see in the pics below.
Spread your glitter/Mod Podge mixture evenly. I sprinkled on some extra glitter…. because for this former cheerleader/dancer/baton twirler, there’s NEVER enough glitter! 😉 Set aside and let your shoes dry.
Once they are dry, add a layer of just Mod Podge. This will help seal all the glitter in so it doesn’t all fall off! Sit aside again and let completely dry.
Once dry, thread your needle and poke through the top front of your shoe. These are faux-leather, so it was a little hard to get through, but not impossible. Canvas would be easier to get through with your needle.
Hand-stitch your pom pom onto the front of your shoe to secure it. You could probably use hot glue instead of stitching, but I was worried about it falling off with only using glue. Your call though!
There you have it! Some adorable, hand-made Tinkerbell shoes! Your little Tink will look absolutely adorable! You can use this technique with any color of glitter to make dress-up shoes for any character or look! Use red glitter for Dorothy’s Ruby Red Slippers for example! Or make one in every color for all of your princess dresses!
