I’m SO excited to announce a new member of the M4M team, Catherine!Catherine has been a long time tester for M4M and I’m sure you’ve seen her and her 3 little girls around the facebook group, the M4M site and in her shop Wish Flower Designs.
Megan T. and I work hard behind the scenes trying to keep up. Megan has helped me tremendously; her responsibilities and skills have grown so much over the last 6 months too. However, I find myself falling further and further behind on projects. My to-do list just stacks up; patterns (and all they entail), blog posts and then keeping up with all our social media sites has become too much for the two of us to handle. Catherine will help us behind the scenes with all this and more! Catherine is already an admin over on the facebook group and has tested almost all my patterns, starting from my Molly pattern. We met in a facebook group for Boutique owners and few years ago, so I feel like we’ve been friends forever.
She not only has a wonderful style, photography skills, sewing and M4M knowledge, but she is a fabulous editor when working on patterns. She is a go to tester for not only me and my sisters, but several other designers too. We all have been working together for a few weeks and it is not only fun, but it SO wonderful having such a talented, inspiring team help build Made for Mermaids. Here is a little more about Catherine below…..
Hey all you lovely Made for Mermaids Fans out there! I am absolutely thrilled to be joining the M4M team. Ever since I first started seeing Megan’s stuff when she was selling her princess dresses I thought her designs were fantastic…and then when she started to sell her patterns for all of us to enjoy, I knew I had to test for her! Her style is right in line with what my kids love to wear (and of course, what I love to make them wear LOL!) Let me tell you a little about myself…
I live on the East Coast, right in between DC and Baltimore. I’ve lived here ever since I was in Elementary school. Growing up I loved all things artsy… from school plays/musicals, to interior design and pottery. After graduating High School, I ended up staying in state and going to the University of Maryland and majoring in Psychology and Criminology. Throughout HS and College, I worked as a camp/after school counselor and got to spend all my ‘working’ hours playing with kids, and my favorite thing ever, creating arts & crafts with them. I enjoyed it so much that after graduating I ran my own after school program and had a blast….I mean who wouldn’t love planning out fun activities for kids on a daily basis?! This is also where I met my husband, Nick : )
It wasn’t until my oldest, Olivia, was around 3 that I started sewing.I loved it right away and starting learning a ton through Youtube videos, PDF’s, and all of the wonderful support groups online! I love challenging myself and learning new skills and won’t stop until I’ve mastered them. I then had a couple more girls (Lea and Harper) and decided I needed to be able to stay home. It was then that I opened up my shop, WishFlowerDesigns. While I love my kids, it has been great to have something that is just for me.
Outside of sewing, I love spending time with my family, cooking, and gardening (Fun fact- I also used to teach cooking classes to kids!!) ! My guilty pleasures are shoe shopping (oh yes…we are a household of shoe lovers!), Starbucks, and Disney…yes, we are a little Disney obsessed at our house as well! I am so excited to start on a new sewing journey by joining Team Megan!
I’m so proud of the team we have built and I can’t wait to show you what we have in store for the new year! Please head on over to the M4M facebook group and congratulate Catherine!
