Last week we released the second dress in the Dreamy Collection… Isla!  The Dreamy Collection is full of wonder and joy! Beautiful, whimsical, sweet and girly patterns that make the perfect outfit for flower girls, special occasions and photo shoots. They are full of little girl’s dream dresses; dresses you can treasure forever.

In case you were wondering how to pronounce it…  We are pronouncing it like “eye-la”. 🙂  Isla comes in sizes 1/2 through 14 and is suitable for woven fabrics.  Top and dress length are included in the pattern.  The pointed bodice is fully enclosed!  Adjustable straps with optional pleated lace flutters.  There are two options given to attach the straps to the dress- you can sew the straps in for a permanent closure OR you can add buttons and buttonholes to your dress/straps for an adjustable fit.  This is a nice feature if you are making the dress for someone you don’t necessarily have access to for fittings!

 

Isla can be dressed up or down depending on the trims, lace and embellishments you add.  She is stunning all dolled up with lace and overlays, or just as sweet with simple finishes.

The first time you make Isla, be prepared to read thoroughly as the construction can be a little tricky.  That’s why we included a video tutorial for you!  The video is linked right in the tutorial and will help you through the trickiest part of construction!  Once you make your first one, this will be one the fastest woven dresses you’ll ever make! 😉

I highly recommend fitting your model if possible to get the desired look you are going for in the back of the dress.  There are several factors which can change the look (or “droop” as we’ve been calling it) of the back.  Strap length, strap placement, elastic type and amount of stretch, weight of skirt fabric and the shape of your daughter.  Much like our inspiration for this dress, the back may look different on every child.

Top Length- hits at high hip.  Slight high low effect.  Pairs perfectly with Olivia Bloomers, Lucy Ruffle Shorts, Evie shorts and Bonny Leggings.  If you are pairing with leggings, I recommend adding a few inches in length to your skirt fabric.

Dress Length- hits above knee.  Slight high low effect.
