Today is Day 4 of our Isabel SAL! If you haven’t already, you can grab the girls’ or the women’s pattern, and check out the existing hacks from the original release. If you’re playing catch up, no worries – the schedule for the week, including links for our previous days, is listed at the bottom of this post!
For day 4, we are attaching our sleeves or neck bands. You will attach either with 1/2″ seam allowance. A few things to remember:
-
- you will need to ease your sleeve in just a bit; if you are having to do a significant amount of stretching, something is likely off with your seam allowances, your paper pattern pieces, or your fabric pattern pieces. Double check that you bodice and sleeves match sizes (this is an especially common mistake if you’re mashing sizes!). Also be sure that you are taking consistent seam allowance.
- seam allowance for both bands and sleeves is 1/2″
- there is no hem allowance on the Sierra flutter sleeve piece if you are doing that hack
- looking for a different look? Try layering the long sleeve WITH the Sierra flutter sleeve for a little extra fun!
ALL SET?
Once you’ve got your sleeves or bands sewn up, you are ready for Day 5! If you have questions about today’s steps, you are welcome to post in the main group or our SAL group so we can help you! Be sure to check in each day during the SAL, and look for daily posts to enter our giveaways. We can’t wait to see what you create this week!
