Kaia is a beautiful tie-back knit pattern full of options. Perfect for photo shoots, family vacations, or everyday wear.

Youth Kaia Features:

• •Made for knit fabrics.
• •Lined bodice with scoop neck front and tie back.
• •2 tie-back options: single tie or double tie (can be tied with both ties in the back OR one in the front and one in the back).
• •Choose from short ties or long ties.
• •3 sleeve options: sleeveless, short, or half sleeve.
• •Full circle skirt in 1 length: dress length.
• •Half circle skirt in 2 lengths: dress or maxi length.
• •Romper option in 2 inseams: short or pant length.
• •The romper has one pleat on each side of the front.
• •All options have an elastic back along the top of the skirt or romper to hold it in place.

Sizes (includes both imperial and metric measurements):

• •Fits sizes 1/2 (about 9-12 months) to 14.
• •Chest sizes 19″-32″ or 46.2-81.2 cm
• •Waist sizes 19.5″-28″ or 49.5-71.1 cm
• •Hip sizes 19.5″-34″ of 49.5-86.3 cm

• •Confident beginner

Suggested Fabrics:

• •Fabric content will affect the drape and fit. Drafted for medium-weight knits with at least 40% stretch horizontally and some vertical stretch.
  • Cotton lycra, double brushed poly, ITY, etc.
• •For the bodice: choose a knit with good recovery, such as cotton spandex or double brushed poly.
  • Fabric with less stretch, such as Liverpool, Ponte, rayon french terry will feel tighter than intended.
  • Do NOT use a cotton interlock (100% cotton knit) or anything without spandex.
  • Using fabrics with less recovery for the bodice, such as rayon spandex, will ‘grow’ with wear and feel looser/longer than the intended fit. If using a knit with less recovery, you may wish to size down if in between sizes.

Notions:

• •1/2″ clear or knit elastic for the back waist.
• •Optional: 1/2″ wash away hem tape, knit twin needle.
• •Basics: thread, pins or clips, scissors, ruler, hem gauge, and marking tool. Ballpoint, stretch, or jersey needle.
