Let’s Get Started!

- Fabric: woven, satin, sequin, knits, etc.
- Glue Gun/Glue Sticks
- Basic Sewing Tools: Pins, ruler, turning tool
Step 1: CUTTING
Print and assemble your pattern pieces. Cut out your pattern pieces. You will need to cut 1 ‘Main Piece’, 1 ‘Tail Piece’, and 1 ‘Bow Center’. Make sure you cut the SAME SIZE main piece and tail piece. Make sure to press each piece with your iron!!
Step 2: MAIN BOW
Starting with the Main Bow Piece, fold it in half lengthwise, with right sides together. Sew the long side together with a 1/4″ seam allowance. Trim seam allowance in half.
Turn the main bow piece right side out. I like to use a a turning tool to turn this piece right side out. Press the seam to the middle back.
Match the short edges, right sides together. Sew with a 1/4″ seam allowance and trim seam allowance in half. Turn right side out and press seam to middle back.
Pinch main bow together in the center and tie a string a around the center so it stays in place. Set aside.
Step 3: BOW TAIL
Fold the bow tail in half, lengthwise with right sides together.
Starting at one diagonal end, sew the open edges together with a 1/4″ seam allowance, leaving about 1″ un-sewn in the center to allow for turning the tail right side out. Trim the seam allowance in half. Turn right side out and press.
Pinch together in the center and tie in place just like the you did to the main piece.
Grab the main bow piece and tail piece and tie them together in the center. Your bow is coming together nicely!
Step 4: BOW CENTER
Fold the right longer side of the center bow piece in about 1/4″ towards wrong side.
Fold the left long side of the center bow piece towards wrong side, covering the right side raw edge, but NOT all the way over so that it meets the right folded side.
Step 5: ATTACHING THE BOW
Grab whatever you are putting the bow on-alligator clip, hair tie, headband, etc and hot glue the bow on. If adding it to a clip, don’t let the clip close down on the hot glue before it dries or your clip will dry closed! Hot glue one end of the bow center to the back of the bow/clip. Wrap the bow center around the bow front tightly. Secure the other end to the back of the bow with hot glue. That’s it! Now go make all the bows!!!
So cute, right??? This is a great scrap busting project that is great for older and little ones alike, and their dollies too! We hope you are enjoying your freebies so far.
