I participated in the last Designer Pattern Swap this spring. I was happy to join again this fall! I am actually switching for my sister Judy, since she has a newborn 😉 and Megan is sewing up for the M4M team.
These swaps are fun because it helps you MAKE time to sew up other patterns you may have had your eye on. I got to sew the Dandelion Wishes dress from MandyKDesign. This is a fun knit dress with a twist!
Nitty Gritty of the pattern:
*sizes 12 months to 14 years
*easy, a-line shape
*layered pattern pieces
*short, 3/4 and long sleeves
*knit for the main body and woven for ruched inserts
*neck and sleeve finshed with binding
*cutting chart for binding and ruched insert measurements
*tips, tricks, loads of photos and even video links in tutorial
The main body of the a-line dress is knit, so it’s soft and comfortable. There is a round yoke at the neck and an insert in the skirt panel. The yoke and panel have a fun rouched detail. You use a woven fabric for the ruched section, which is a really great way to incorporate wovens in your knit dresses.
There are several sleeve options, which is wonderful. The neck and sleeves are finished with binding.
You could leave off the rouching for a very quick sew! I had planned on sewing another up like that, but we all got sick this week, boo! My daughter choose a my little pony knit for the main body and lavender pin dot for the insets. It is a very fun, girly and wearable dress! She really loves it. Now for photo overload 🙂

I am new to the pattern swap and pretty much brand new to sewing clothing so don’t have a favorite pattern yet. The Dandelion Wishes dress from MandyKDesign that is featured here is adorable and looks like a fun sewing project!
