Cue the music… “I’m ‘dreamy-ing’ of a Made for Mermaids Christmas…..”! We just can’t get enough of the Dreamy Collection around here. So we’re just going to keep ’em coming with the Holiday edition! Sound good? Good! The Dreamy Collection dresses and tops are full of wonder and joy. Beautiful, whimsical, sweet and girly patterns that make the perfect outfit for flower girls, special occasions and photo shoots. They are full of little girl’s dream dresses; dresses you can treasure forever.
Catherine introduced us to Holly last week. If you haven’t seen Holly, go check her out!! So beautiful! Today we are going to review the 2nd Holiday dress in the collection. It is the Noelle Peplum Top & Dress. Sizes 1/2-14. Noelle is suitable for knit fabrics. It is a QUICK and simple sew leaves you with stunning results! The bodice features a boat neck with stand-up, structured cowl. You can choose from peplum top, dress length, or layer both together with or without a pettiskirt. Includes 3/4 or long sleeves that have a slight gather at the shoulder.
You may have heard us say this pattern is fast. 🙂 That’s because it is!!! NO JOKE! No neckbands to stretch, the only gathering is the shoulders, and the circle skirt makes this top and dress a jiffy to make! For example: I made the layered peplum, pettiskirt, and dress option in just over an hour!! It takes so little time for such a show-stopping dress! I love it!! That is my kind of pattern, especially during the busy holiday season, and especially when I have to make two of everything! 😉
Let’s talk fabric selection for a minute, shall we? Noelle looks lovely in fancy OR everyday knits! A medium weight knit with at least 30% stretch is recommended for the bodice and the cowl. The cowl needs some structure to it so it can hold its shape. We have been loving stretch velvet, liverpool, sweater knits, ponte de roma, cotton lycra, scuba etc. If you are making the pettiskirt, our favorites are nylon chiffon, mesh, and tulle. You need something super light weight since we are adding a bunch of layers for that poof and fancy-factor. When using the dress length as a lining, my favorite fabric is a polyester knit. My local JoAnn Fabrics offers it in a few colors. It is knit, lightweight and perfect for a lining!

Let’s take a look at some of the jaw-droppingly beautiful tester photos and all of the options!!!
Peplum Top Length…
Noelle in dress length with or without pettiskirt…
Layered peplum, dress with/without pettiskirt (I call this option “The whole she-bang”)… 🙂
Noelle is designed to mix and mash with the other 2 patterns in the Dreamy Collection. You can interchange the bodices and skirts with the Annabelle or Juliette patterns. Just think of all the beautiful combinations you can make with these 3 patterns! Here, Megan G. used the Annabelle bodice with Noelle’s skirt and it is just a beautiful combination! <3
Don’t you just love a full, circle skirt? I know I do!!! And so do my girls. The bigger the “twirl-factor”, the better. Check out these twirl-shots our testers snapped!!!!
One more thing I wanted to mention about the beautiful Noelle…. She is a lot of fun to accessorize!! You may have noticed the gorgeous brooches, pins, necklaces, muffs and capes that are appearing in our tester photos. We raided our jewelry boxes, as well as went through family heirlooms and antique shops to find the pins to adorn the necklines and bodices of Noelle. Several testers used the M4M Hooded Caplet to add some winter warmth. A few ladies added muffs to keep their little ladies nice and toasty. Don’t worry friends! A muff pattern is in the works! 😉
Thank you for reading more about our Noelle pattern! I hope you love her and will share your creations in the Made for Mermaids Patterns Group on Facebook and Instagram @madeformermaids. #madeformermaids #noellepattern #dreamycollection. Stay tuned for more Dreamy patterns. Happy Holiday sewing <3
