Welcome to day 3 of our Gable sew-a-long! We’re halfway through our week already! Today we’ll be attaching our center piece and hammock pieces if you’re doing that hack!
Attaching the center piece is super easy! Just make sure you clip at each end, then the center, and finally ease the rest in. It will not attach with a 1:1 ratio, so if you clip like that, you will come up short!
If you’re opting to do the hammock hack, just a note that the hack is intended to help separate, but not necessarily lend support. Some athletic fabrics may *feel* more supportive, but that isn’t the intent of the hack. I hope that helps clarify; I know we see that question frequently!
In the video, I attach the hammock pieces after the center piece, but you can absolutely attach both at the same time. You may wish to baste your hammock pieces to your center piece prior to doing so, just for ease of attachment.
Don’t forget:
- when you cut the fabric pieces for the hammock hack, you need mirror images
- be consistent with your seam allowance
- seam allowances are included
