We’ve made it to the end of the week! I’m so happy you joined us for our Penelope SAL. What are you hoping to sew up next month with P4P??? Today’s step is just hemming and cleaning up any stray threads, etc. you may have left.
If you don’t have a coverstitch, don’t fret. You can use a regular sewing machine, too. If you’re struggling with hemming, we definitely suggest using a water soluble hem tape. You can also starch and press your hems ahead of time. You’ll notice that I don’t, but I’m very comfortable with 1/2″ hems on most any garment. I do need to do more prep work if I’m doing a 1″ hem, as I don’t do those very frequently, so they don’t come as naturally 🙂
Don’t forget:
- Hem allowance is 1/2″
- Be careful not to stretch your fabric as you’re hemming
Want to sew along with me? Check out today’s video!
If you have questions about hemming, you are always welcome to post in our SAL group so we can help you! Be sure to post your progress photos for each day; you still have a few days to play catch-up, if you’ve fallen a bit behind! Stay tuned for our winners announcement 🙂
