Welcome to the last stop on the Riley Blake Handmade Holiday Blog Tour! To say that we are excited to be part of such an amazing line-up is an understatement!!! I hope you have been following along with the tour so far. If you haven’t, I encourage you to check out the amazing creations from our talented sewing friends.
For my fabric, I chose the Main Blue Knit from the Idle Wild collection. As soon as I saw the icy-mint blue color and red and pink roses, I swooned and started dreaming up a wintry look for my little one. I decided to go with a red and white stripe as a coordinating fabric. For my lining, I used the adorable Birds in Blue Knit from Idle Wild.
I used my favorite go-to knit pattern(s) for this dress. The Brooklyn + Riley mash-up! This dress uses the bodice and sleeves from the Brooklyn pattern and the circle skirt from the Riley pattern. It is my daughter’s absolute favorite pattern in terms of comfort, style and twirl-factor. 🙂 And since I always get asked this, her kitty tights are from Target, purchased earlier this fall.
Here you can see how I used the adorable Birds in Blue Knit from Idle Wild. Even though you can’t see it while on, it’s a great way to add those special touches. That’s what’s fun about sewing your own clothes, am I right? My daughter got a kick out of the birds, so I’ll be sure to use this print as a main fabric for her next outfit! 😉
After making the dress, I decided to make a Tiffany Collar to help pull in some of that gorgeous Riley Blake Idle Wild Main Blue Knit floral! We are so in love!
The Tiffany Collar is a FREE pattern. It is part of our M4M 12 Days of Christmas Freebies and you can download your copy here! I used knit fabric instead of the suggested woven, so I sized down and think it worked perfectly! 🙂
There are several reasons why I love using the Riley circle skirt on this mash-up.
1.) It’s FAST! No gathering required. Woo hoo!
2.) Twirl Factor! Every dress should be a twirly dress in my opinion!
So that is our Peppermint Princess look featuring gorgeous Riley Blake knit fabric! I just love how this fabric has a winter feel to it without being over-the top “Christmas-y”. That way she can wear it throughout the whole season. We hope that you are inspired by this lovely fabric to do some Holiday sewing of your own! Be sure to check out the other designers on the blog tour for even more inspiration and Riley Blake eye candy!
