Day 3:
Today is Day 3 of our sew-a-long – we’re halfway done already!! We have a few steps today, but don’t be intimidated!
If you’re making a sleeveless Bryce per the pattern, we’ll enclose the front armscye seams today. If you’re adding sleeves, we’re actually just going to baste the front armscye; since we’ll be attaching a sleeve, we don’t need the seam to be enclosed.
Wondering what stitch to use for understitching? You can use most any stretch stitch on your sewing machine; I used a triple stitch.
Wondering what stitch to use for the 2″ of “stay stitching” on the back neckline? I used a triple stitch for that as well, but you could also use a long straight stitch (I typically use a length of 4 for this)
Don’t forget:
- Make sure you are taking an accurate and consistent seam allowance; seam allowance is already included on all pattern pieces. For Bryce, seam allowance is 3/8″ unless otherwise indicated.
- Keep your side seams, shoulder seams, and bottom/waist seams open for now; we are only sewing the armscyes, and the back neckline today
- Be sure to use a stretch stitch for all of your construction!
