Day 5:
I can’t believe we’re already on Day 5 of our Bryce Sew-a-long! For some of you, today might be your last sewing day! The only step left tomorrow is our skirt construction.
If you’re making a sleeveless Bryce per the pattern, you’ll match up the side seams with RIGHT sides together. Make sure that the front lining and back lining are touching, and the front main bodice fabric and back main bodice fabric are touching.
If you’re making a Bryce with sleeves, we’re not going to enclose the side seams. Instead, we’ll attach the sleeves, and then sew up the side seams.
For the crop band, you’ll construct the band like you would for any waist band, arm band, etc. We do have some additional tips and tricks for bands over here.
Don’t forget:
- Make sure you are taking an accurate and consistent seam allowance; seam allowance is already included on all pattern pieces. For Bryce, seam allowance is 3/8″ unless otherwise indicated.
- Be sure to use a stretch stitch for all of your construction, with the exception of basting stitches.

If you have questions about sewing up your side seams, attaching sleeves, or adding a crop band, you are always welcome to post in our SAL group so we can help you!
