My kids will be headed back to school in just a few short days. I love being able to sew them something special for their first day. My daughter is getting to the age now when she really likes to have some input on her fabric and pattern choices. When we saw this houndstooth, the Juniper jumper pattern came to mind. This pattern has several different styles, but the simple dress version was just perfect. I love that you can change out the shirt underneath and use it for warmer weather, or you can use a longer sleeve shirt for those cooler temperatures.
The Juniper pairs so well with the Pepper. We made a simple top version, but with all of the options the Pepper has to offer, any of the versions would look so cute. Now she has this cute top that can be paired with other bottoms for more of a capsule shirt.
Another one of our favorite patterns for school is the Skipper skirt. The option to have built in shorts is so perfect for recess and spending time at the rug in class. She doesn’t have to worry about wearing anything showing and is more comfortable playing around.
The ruffles with the two tiers makes it so fun. I love that this pattern can be used with woven fabrics for the skirt, which makes it a very versatile pattern for all different fabrics.
Hopefully you enjoy sewing for back to school like I do, or at least, I could help to give some fun pattern ideas for your kids. Here’s to hoping that they all have a great first day! – Anna
