Welcome to day 1!! No actual sewing today but you are going to print your pattern and assemble today. If you have never used Made for Mermaids patterns before check out this post on tips for printing.
Once your pattern is assembled you are going to want to choose your options. This pattern has a lot of options and then we are giving you 2 more a flutter sleeve and the option to add sleeves. If you are worried about that scoop back not covering your bra rest assured the high back options covers your bra just fine. If you are wanting to add a sleeve make sure that you have the pattern that you are using the sleeve from printed and assembled as well. We will be using Mama Mya to show this step. You will need the all the pieces from the pattern not just the sleeve to adjust. Also make sure you have tracing paper on hand.
Lets talk about fabric as tomorrow we will begin cutting our pieces so fabric should be all ready to go. Any light to medium weight knit will work well for Mama Ella and Ella rayon spandex, lightweight jersey, burnout jersey, double or single brushed poly, cotton lycra, poly spandex. If you are going to be adding the ruffle or the flutter sleeves you want to use something that has a nice drape, lightweight jerseys or rayon spandex are my favorites for the flutters of ruffle. Here are a few examples of brushed poly Ella’s:
And a couple in Rayon spandex:
That’s all for day, no album for pictures today as all we have our pieces! See you back tomorrow for Day 2!
