Day 4 of our 12 Days of Freebies already! Today we wanted to be sure we included something for all of our furry friends! We have a dog (or cat, or goat 😉 ) bandana for y’all! This freebie is SUPER quick but is oh so cute!
SUPPLIES:
- 1/2 yd any woven fabric – quilting cotton works best as it allows for some drape, but also some stability as well
- Size 16 (7/16″) snaps
LET’S GET STARTED!
1/4″ seam allowances included.
Step 1: PREPPING
Go grab the pattern here! The pattern is 100% free, but you do need to add it to your cart and checkout. Then, it will always be available to download from your account. The pattern is a no trim pattern; if you need help putting the pattern together, pop over to the faqs and troubleshooting page or ask in our Facebook group .
Print and assemble the pattern. There are 9 pages to print out. Pattern layout below:
Cut 2 bandana pieces (choose size based on size chart on page 2 of pattern pieces). Transfer snap placement markings onto RIGHT side of fabric.
Step 2: Sewing the Bandana
Lay one bandana piece right side up. Place second bandana piece on top, right sides together. Stitch together with a 1/4″ seam allowance, leaving 3-4″ open at the top center of the bandana to turn right sides out.
Clip corners for a more crisp finish when you turn right sides out.
Turn bandana right sides out by pulling through opening at center top. Use a chopstick or turning tool to get crisp points at the corners.
Step 3: Finishing the Bandana
Press the bandana, making sure to press the seam allowance toward the inside at the opening left open for turning. Topstitch around the entire bandana.
Using instructions provided with your snaps, place snaps on snap placement markings. Tip: Apply snaps going opposite directions (one with nice side on front and the other with nice side on back) for the most streamlined finish!
The bandana should fit with enough room to tie once, then snap!
Enjoy!!
I hope you and your little furry friend love this bandana! If you make one, be sure to tag us @madeformermaids on Instagram, or post in our Facebook Group so we can see!
