Day 3:
Day 3 is all about sleeves! We’ll be constructing and then attaching our sleeves. I’m sewing up the ruffle sleeve, so your steps may look just a bit different than mine depending on which option you selected!
NOTE: As tempting as it is to complete the construction on a serger, I highly recommend basting your sleeves to your bodice first! Even after basting, I would still recommend using a sewing machine for 1-2″ on either side of the sleeve, just to give you a bit more control. You can always finish the seam with a serger.
Don’t forget:
- Make sure you are taking an accurate and consistent seam allowance; seam allowance is already included on all pattern pieces. For this pattern, seam allowances DO vary!
- Do not thread your shoulder elastic right away! You’ll want to hem your sleeve and/or create your other casing first.
- Leave a 1″ opening for your casing if you’re sewing up a ruffle sleeve option.

If you have questions about constructing or attaching your sleeves, you are always welcome to post in our SAL group so we can help you! Be sure to check in each day during the SAL, and look for daily posts to enter our giveaways. We can’t wait to see what you create this week!
