It’s Day 4 of our Penelope sew-a-long!
There are several sleeve options to choose from! I opted for the puff sleeves, although the bishop sleeves are actually my favorite. Living on an island means my kids really only need a handful of long sleeve items, so I know we’ll get the most use out of the short sleeve version!
If you are making the puff sleeve and forgot to mark your gathering points, go ahead and do that now! You can make a tiny snip (less than 1/8″ – tiny!!), or use a washable fabric marker to note the gathering points. If you forget to gather, or gather without using the markings, your sleeve won’t fit properly.
Don’t forget:
- When you’re attaching bands/cuffs, be sure to *only* stretch the band/cuff, NOT the sleeve pieces
- Match the shoulder seam and the sleeve notch, place a clip at either end, then ease the remainder of the sleeve into the armscye
- Seam allowance is 1/2″
- Sew with right sides together

If you have questions about constructing or attaching your sleeves, you are always welcome to post in our SAL group so we can help you! Be sure to check in each day during the SAL, and look for daily posts to enter our giveaways. We can’t wait to see what you create this week!
