Welcome to Day 3 of our Penelope sew-a-long. Today is a quick and easy day, especially if you’re opting out of topstitching your princess seams.
Topstitching the princess seams can be done with a coverstitch machine, or with a regular sewing machine! Just remember to use a stretch stitch, even if you’re using a decorative-style stitch. This is also a great time to give your seams a good press/steam, to reduce waviness.
Looking to make a tank version of the Penelope? It’s a little tricky with the panels; I would recommend cutting your bodice pieces out as is in the pattern first, sewing the bodice/princess seams, and then tracing the tank armscye once the bodice pieces are assembled.
Don’t forget:
- Make sure you are taking an accurate and consistent seam allowance
- Stitch your shoulder seams with right sides together
