For most summers, my typical family vacation includes a trip to the beach or amusement park. This year, we are switching things up and traveling to Scotland!!! I am incredibly excited, since I’ve never traveled overseas. From what I’ve researched, Scotland in July is unpredictable. Most people say it is like our Spring time here in the USA. It can get warm during the day, cool mornings and evenings, and be prepared for rain. With so much unpredictable weather, I plan on taking a lot of different pieces that I can layer. This post is brought to you by: PLAID. 🙂 I’m a huge fan of plaid prints, so I’ve sewed up a bunch of pieces to mix and match into a Scotland mini capsule.
When I fly, I typically wear jeans, a tee, and sweater since planes tend to get chilly. Our flight to Scotland will be about 8 hours overnight, so I want to be comfortable. Like in my jammies (but not in my jammies) comfy! 😉 My absolute favorite combo is the P4P Peg Legs and M4M Mama Ava tee. These are made with double brushed poly aka the epitome of comfy. Check out the updated Pegs pattern.. you won’t be disappointed!! I’m also throwing on a P4P Cocoon Cardigan to wrap up in.
For more casual days site-seeing and shopping and pubs, I plan on taking my P4P Favorite Tee. This is the v-neck, 3/4 sleeves, and knotted band version. I love this version in poly cotton- it is light, breathes well, and has a nice drape to it!
I plan on taking a nice dress for dinner with the hubby. This is the M4M Mama Isabel/Mama Cassie mash up. I used a rayon spandex blend from JoAnn Fabrics for this dress. I’ve been hoarding this fabric for months now and I love the floral/plaid combo. I made it sleeveless and plan on taking a cardigan or jacket to layer in case it is chilly. The Isabel/Cassie mash up (click link for mash up blog) is so dreamy. It gives the skirt a twirly, more flirty look. I also used the duster cardigan hack so this can double as a duster vest- paired with jeans and a tank for a more casual look.
For more site-seeing and tours, I’m taking my M4M Mama Claire, P4P Cross My Heart Cami and the P4P Cocoon Cardigan. I love Claire and the CMHC because they are reversible! So spin them around and you get a different look!!! Claire and the cami are both made with double brushed poly.
It’s not a summer vacation until you’re in a bathing suit.. am I right? I’m not sure if the opportunity will arise, but I’ll be packing my new P4P Take the Plunge Swimsuit along just in case we come across any lochs or fairy pools where swimming is permitted!
Last but not least, don’t forget the umbrella!! 😉
I’ll be sure to post some pictures from our trip in the Made for Mermaids and Patterns for Pirates Facebook groups, so stay tuned for gorgeous scenery and handmade clothes from my trip to Scotland!
