When you think of the Lounge and Lace Collection, you may not immediately think of work attire but I promise you it’s there! The Collection is full of beautiful and cozy items that are great to mix and match, both when you’re at home and on the go. We have seen some incredible makes on the blog over the past couple of weeks that have showcased just that. Today, I am going to show you the easiest way to take your pattern from “Lounge-wear” to “Work-attire” with one simple step… Fabric choice!
The Stella has been a long time favorite of mine. I have made several over the years, in probably every single version available, and with all sorts of different fabrics. Since my Valentine’s Day will be spent in the classroom, supervising my preschool students while they pass out their valentines, craft, and enjoy our party, I knew I needed something comfortable yet still professional to wear. That’s where my go-to pattern comes in!
While many of my Stellas have been more casual, I was able to dress this one up just by choosing a dressier fabric and styling it accordingly. I found this Pink French Velvet at Mily Mae Fabrics, and the combination of its softness and luxurious look is just what I was hoping for!
To give it a more Valentine’s Day feel, I added a pair of heart shaped hoop earrings that I found online at Francesca’s. I’m a sucker for themed earrings, which is probably the teacher in me, lol. I paired my Stella with a pair of black jeans and black flats, but it would be adorable with heels, if you aren’t trying to keep up with preschoolers all day!
I would love to hear some other fabric suggestions you all choose when dressing up a pattern! Don’t forget to share your Valentine’s Day makes on the Facebook group page, I can’t wait to see what everyone else is wearing!
Happy Valentine’s Day,
Megan K.
