We’re getting close to the end! Today is Day 5 of the Blythe SAL; we’ll be constructing our skirt tiers. The tiers can be a little bit tedious due to the gathering, but the time and attention to detail will pay off in the end! This is also a great time to add clear elastic to your bodice to help stabilize the waist seam.
Struggling with gathering? We have lots of helpful information over here.
Don’t forget:
- seam allowance is 1/2″ and is included on pattern pieces; be sure to take the full 1/2″, especially if you’re using a serger.
- if you’re using fabric such as cotton lycra, your gathers will likely be too bulky to drape nicely
- be sure to spread your gathers out evenly for the best finish
