Welcome to day 3 of our 12 days of Christmas Freebies! Today we are bringing you a delightful little tree garland. This garland can be made fairly quickly using your most favorite fabric scraps. You can use this garland to add charm and jolly to any room. And this is the perfect project to allow little ones to help with too!
You can download the Tree Garland Pattern Piece in the Freebies section of our website right HERE!

- Poly Fill
- Hand sewing needle

Let’s Get Started!
1/4″ SEAM ALLOWANCE INCLUDED
Step 1: CUTTING
Cut out your pattern pieces. For each tree you will need to cut a mirrored image set and a ribbon approximately 2.5″ long. You can choose to add as many trees as you would like to your strand of garland. I prefer odd numbers as it allows for a focal point.
Step 2: ADDING THE ‘ TREE STUMP’
Fold a tree in half with the right sides touching.
Place a pin at the center bottom of the tree to mark the mid point.
Place your folded ribbon piece at the center point. The folded edge of the ribbon will face the top of the tree. Baste the ribbon in place with a 1/8″ seam allowance.
Step 3: CREATING THE TREE
Place your tree pieces right sides together. Clip or pin the tree, then sew with a 1/4″ seam allowance. Make sure to leave a 1.5″ opening to allow for turning. Clip the corners of the tree.
Step 4: STUFF THE TREE
Stuff the tree with poly fill. Make sure to get the fill in the corners of the tree. Blind stitch the tree closed.
Step 5: ADD THE TWINE
Sew your tree to the twine. If you are adding the optional button, make sure the needle goes through the button, tree and twine.
Enjoy your new garland, and have a very Merry Christmas!
