The Sommer patterns (women’s, youth, dolly, and baby!) are our sew-a-long patterns for this month! Don’t have your copies yet? Grab them over here! This month’s sew-a-long is sponsored by Sincerely Rylee Fabrics, Thread & Grain, and of course, M4M and P4P.
Day 4’s step is the front neckline! Today’s video is a little lengthy, because binding is not quick! But hopefully, taking it slowly will help binding feel less intimidating for you. If you’re doing an optional neckline and/or bodice ruffle, make sure those edges get tucked in to the binding!
- Attach binding with a 3/8″ seam allowance
- Don’t skip steps with binding! It will usually end up taking longer in the long run 😉
- Use a stretch stitch or a chain stitch (coverstitch) to edge stitch your binding/strap pieces
- I did trim my seam allowance a TINY bit on the neckline ruffle, because my cotton lycra was getting really bulky! If you do this, make sure you don’t trim off any of your stitching/gathers
Want to sew along with me? Check out today’s video!
If you have questions about today’s steps, you are always welcome to post in our SAL group so we can help you! Be sure to check in each day during the SAL, and look for daily posts to enter our giveaways. We can’t wait to see what you create this week!
