Our new Venice Henley Crop, Top, and Bodysuit is a fun, fitted henley knit pattern in bust sizes 30″-60″. Venice is packed full of options! You can choose from a crop or top length, OR a thong or brief bodysuit. The bodysuit is finished with picot elastic and hook and eye tape. The neckline is a functional henley placket in high and low options. The Venice is perfect for year-round wear since it features sleeves, short, half, 3/4, and long sleeve options! The neckline is finished with bands, as is the sleeveless option. We are loving Venice for date nights, getting dressed up, worn as a layer, or just as a basic wardrobe staple!
Faux Placket
Love the look of buttons but in a time crunch? You can keep the same look by opting for a faux placket! First, pin your packet closed. You could also place a few basting stitches to keep the placket closed if you are worried about your fabric shifting at all. Next, use a few small pieces of clear tape to place your buttons. This is a quick and easy way to check spacing and placement before you do any sewing!
Then, either hand sew your buttons on, or use your buttonhole attachment on your sewing machine. I usually prefer to hand sew them on, but either way will work. That’s it! Enjoy your faux placket! Just remember that it’s faux so you don’t accidentally rip your buttons off – whoopsies!
Katie’s version came out so great!
Lace-Up Hack
The lace-up hack takes the place of a traditional placket. Use your favorite spacing tool to mark where you want your eyelets For this version, Megan opted for four eyelets on each side.
NOTE: Grommets and eyelets are very similar, but due to the more delicate nature of your Venice fabrics and the fact that this is simply decorative, eyelets are recommended!
Attach your eyelets using the directions for your specific brand of eyelets/your specific eyelet tool. There are ways to attach eyelets without a special tool, but the finish is not as clean and the process is a bit more challenging, so we do not recommend attaching without an eyelet tool.
Once you’ve attached your eyelets, lace up your Venice using cording, ribbon, lace, whatever you’d like!
If you’re wondering, the lace-up hack was also tween approved 🙂 I don’t think Megan is getting this one back from her daughter – sorry, mama!!!
