The Zara pattern is an on-trend knit pant featuring a flattering, high-rise fit and wide-leg silhouette. Zara is fitted through the hip before flaring into a full, wide leg. Choose between a lined contour waistband or a lined fold-over waistband. Choose from 28″, 30″, or 32″ inseams for your preferred length. The simple pant option has minimal seams and is extremely quick to sew, while the side pocket option features a side panel with a functional pocket on each side, perfect for holding your cell phone. Zara is perfect for gym days, running errands, cheering at your kids’ sports games, traveling, or lounging—combining comfort, function, and a silhouette that’s right on trend.

Sizes (includes both imperial and metric measurements):

• •Fits natural waist sizes: 23″-57″ or 58.4-134.6 cm.
• •Fits preferred waist sizes: 29″-59″ or 73.6-149.8 cm.
• •Fits full hip sizes: 34″-64″ or 86.3 – 162.5 cm.
• •Fits upper-thigh sizes: 20.5″-37.5″ or 52.1-95.3 cm.

Skill level:

• Confident beginner – sewing athletic knits can be tricky.

Suggested Fabrics:

• •Fabric content will affect the drape and fit.
• •Zara is drafted for medium weight knits with 4-way stretch, great recovery, and a minimum 50% horizontal stretch, and 50% vertical stretch. Look for as spandex content of 5% minimum.
• Athletic knits like nylon spandex, poly spandex, ribbed athletic, brushed athletic, OR double brushed poly for a nonathletic pair.
• Something lighter like an ITY drapes nicely in the simple pant option, but I suggest lining the waistband in a heavier athletic knit (like peached performance) and adding clear elastic to the waistband to help stabilize.

Notions:

• •Optional- 1/4″ clear elastic to add support to the waistband.
• •Optional- 1/2″ wonder under or knit hem tape
• •Basics: thread, pins or clips, scissors, ruler, hem gauge, safety pin or bodkin, and marking tool. Ball point, stretch, or jersey needle.
