Day 3 is up! We’ll tackle our tiers/ruffles today 🙂 I’m sewing up the mini and the ruffled high low, so you may have more tiers to attach than I do. Regardless, the process will stay the same for all versions.
Today is a little tedious, but not a “hard” step per se! Do take the time to gather neatly and consistently; it will make a big difference in the quality of your finished Siena.
Looking for other ways to gather? Check out our blog post here.
Don’t forget:
- Be accurate with your seam allowance
- Finish your edges to prevent fraying; I like to serge them, but you can also check out Dana’s finishing tips here.
- Get friendly with your iron; pressing often will make a big difference in how polished your garment looks
- Gather your tiers to the width of your skirt opening (or the bottom of the previous tier, if doing multiple tiers)

If you have questions about constructing or attaching your tiers, you are always welcome to post in our SAL group so we can help you! Be sure to check in each day during the SAL, and look for daily posts to enter our giveaways. We can’t wait to see what you create this week!
