I absolutely love this pattern! It’s easy to follow & I love the options – you can make a simple cute skirt or add details that make it a little fancier. This pattern helped get me back to loving sewing with cotton – before I was all about knits! Thanks for this great skirt!

In searching for a birthday outfit for my now 2 year old, i discovered the samantha suspender skirt. This turned out better than any outfit i would have purchased online. I ended up sewing extras a few sizes bigger so my daughter can wear them as she grows. The instructions are very clear and any questions can be answered in the amazing facebook group.

I am a beginner and this was one of the first things I sewed. This was my first M4M pattern and I would buy more. The instructions are so clear and precise and made me feel so confident. I learned some new things with this project like what topstitching and edgestitching are. The pattern included suggestions of where you could topstitch to get a more professional result. I LOVE that the pattern explains how to make a fully enclosed final product, which I did; so comfortable, professional, and durable. I made this with quilting cotton and it turned out great. When it came to gathering the skirt, I had some trouble not sewing over my gathers and ended up with some accidental pleats. I would suggest maybe watching a YouTube video on how to gather fabric or using your favorite gathering method that you feel confident with. It was not a problem with the pattern, it was more user error. My daughter is 18 months old and because she is constantly moving and still has a big chubby toddler belly, I had trouble tying the skirt on her and keeping it up (I used the suspender skirt option). Again, not a problem with the pattern but I would recommend making the skirt only without suspenders for toddlers, and making the suspender skirt for a bigger kid who will stand still to have it put on and keep it on all day lol.
