The Belle skirt is a classic gathered style skirt. Made for lightweight woven fabric. The waistband is made from soft wide elastic. Use specialty woven fabrics like chiffon, silk charmuse, or mesh for a soft feel. Or use tulle with several layers for a poofy tutu look. It includes a lining layer that can be shorter than the main skirt or made the same length. Choose from a knee, midi, or maxi length. This is the perfect quick skirt to make for holiday photos, parties, gatherings, or for a cute everyday look.

Suggested Fabrics:

• •Drafted for light weight wovens like high quality mesh, silk charmuse, tulle, chiffon, silk, etc.
• •If you are using a fabric that is see-through you’ll want to choose a lining that is not.
• •Soft drapey fabrics will give a sleek look while stiffer fabrics will give a more poofy tutu effect.
• •The amount of layers chosen will affect the look as well.
• •Belle also works for lightweight knits! The lengths just may end up longer due to stretch.

Notions:

• •1″ or 1.5″ soft waistband elastic. The waistband does show so you’ll want something that matches and is visually appealing.
• •Basics: iron, marking tool, ruler, snips, thread, pins or clips, scissors or rotary cutter, hem gauge.
