The Sloan pattern is a classic knit sweatpant full of options. It is fitted at the waistband with ease at the hips through the legs and fitted at the ankle. It includes both mid and high rise options. Choose from 2 waistband options: a flat waistband or a classic waistband with an optional drawstring. Both waistbands have enclosed 1.5” knit elastic. Choose from short or long shorts, or sweatpants with a knit cuff, elastic hem, or simply hemmed. Add optional inseam, back, or cargo pockets to complete your look.

Skill level:

• •Confident beginner- The classic waistband, waistband with the drawstring, and the optional pockets will be the most difficult for a true beginner.

Suggested Fabrics:

• •Drafted for stable knits 20% or more stretch horizontally and a little vertical stretch.
• •A variety of knit fabrics can be used for different looks.
• •Lighter weight knits with drape will fit more loosely.
• •You want something with good recovery for the leg cuff (if adding).
• •A variety of knit fabrics can be used for different looks.
• •Sweatshirt knits, sweatshirt fleece, fleece backed jersey, athletic fleece, cotton lycra French terry, etc.

Notions:

• •ALL OPTIONS NEED 1.5″ KNIT ELASTIC.
• •Inseam pocket option: fusible lightweight knit interfacing.
• •Elastic hem option: 1/2″ knit elastic.
• •Drawstring option: fusible lightweight knit interfacing, optional 1/4″ grommets (outside diameter must be 1/2″ or smaller) and drawstring cording is optional, if you don’t want to make your own drawstring from fabric.
• •Basics: iron, marking tool, ruler, snips, thread, pins or clips, scissors or rotary cutter, hem gauge, bodkin or safety pin. Ball point, stretch, or jersey needle. Knit twin needle optional.
